2024.02.152024 Winter School We are really happy to announce that the Graduate School of Logistics (GSL), Incheon National University (INU) will be holding a 'Winter School' for the 2024 winter holiday. A series of guest lectures on SCM and maritime domains are going to be held for three days from January 9 (Wed) to January 11 (Thursday), 2024. We welcome all participants (undergraduate students, graduate students both from INU and outsiders) who are interested in the topic below. Programmes 1. Offline programmes - Date: January 9, 2024, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM - Instructor: CEO Lee Dong-Seok (Rainmaker) - Location: Lecture Room 212, Building 15 - Workshop contents: To design digital logistics platform services, (1) survey the current status of digital logistics platforms, (2) review the direction of digital logistics platform design, and (3) complete a digital logistics platform service plan during the workshop. * Prior study is required. - Please watch three videos related to service planning from the BK Education Research Team's online curriculum on cyber.inu in advance. 2. Online programmes 2.1. Online Seminar 1 - Date: Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Korea local Time) - Speaker: Professor Lau, Hoong Chuin (Singapore Management University) - Title: Research Trends and Real-World Applications in Urban Logistics Operations - Abstract: With the significant growth in e-commerce, last mile delivery has become an important business activity. As most of the parcels are delivered to urban areas, the efficiency of delivery operations has a considerable impact on urban phenomena such as congestion and air pollution. Crowdsourced and shared deliveries may reduce these negative externalities. Since these activities are relatively new, they present opportunities and challenges in both academic research and business applications. In this talk, I provide a survey on emerging methods in research to tackle the underlying challenges. In particular, I will discuss the trend of the convergence of machine learning and operations research in dealing with such complex problems. I will then demonstrate how these methods are used to develop real-world applications in crowdsourced and collaborative logistics in urban settings. - Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87393003463 (Meeting ID: 873 9300 3463, Password: 741281) 2.2. Online Seminar 2 - Date: Thursday, January 11, 2024, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Korea Local Time) - Speaker: Professor GOH, Mark (National University of Singapore) - Topic: Sustainability-driven technology, generative AI, and the supply chain: Some (research) strategies for consideration - Content: Eight supply chains today account for 50% of global emissions. When building a sustainability roadmap for business, enterprises need to look at several levers to decarbonize the supply chain, in particular with regard to scope 3 emissions and supplier related emissions. We preview some of the sustainability initiatives from the case of Singapore, and then relate to Industry 5.0 and generative AI, before suggesting some research opportunities. - Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83216841031 (Meeting ID: 832 1684 1031 / Password: 34552) 2.3. Online Seminar 3 - Date: Thursday, January 11, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Korea Local Time) - Speaker: Professor YANG, Zaili (Liverpool John Moores University) - Topic: Data-driven risk analysis in container supply chains - Abstract: Risk research represents an important challenge for the resilience and sustainability of container supply chains (CSCs) due to climate change, terrorism threats and an increasing amount of economic upheaval in the past decade. Its foci are being expanded from classical safety, through security to climate adaptation areas. Addressing risks of different features requires integration across disciplines and across research methodologies. Currently, we lack the critical understanding of which kinds of risk schemes can most effectively harness science and technology for achieving long-term resilient and sustainable CSCs. This presentation aims at introducing a series of studies on data driven risk analysis which enables the quantification, integration and communication of risk information from different areas and facilitates the movement of risk culture from a traditional reactive single dimensional scheme towards a new proactive multiple dimensional regime. The work will address the significant methodological issues associated with resilience and sustainability sciences particularly with reference to risk analysis under high uncertainty. - Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89408892840 (Meeting ID: 894 0889 2840, Password: 45255)
